Identifying New or Common Marbles

The following pictures of examples of marbles with little or no value to marble collectors. Most are post 1950 marbles. However, many marbles from the early 1900's have no real value.

The most common marbles are solid color game marbles, clear glass of all colors, and cat-eye style marbles. These pictures do not represent every possible type of new marble, but should help you get a quick idea.

How old does a marble need to be to qualify as a vintage collectible?

The rule of thumb is pre-1950.

While there are just a few marbles collected dated after the 1950's, the most sought after are late 1800's through the 1940's.
